The European Union (EU) in Eswatini, in collaboration with esteemed partners and dignitaries, officially inaugurated the 13th edition of the EU in Eswatini Bushfire Schools Festival at House On Fire. The event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Sports, Culture & Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, European Union Ambassador Dessislava Choumelova, British High Commissioner Simon Boyden, and other distinguished guests.

The EU’s unwavering support towards nurturing artistic talent and providing sustainable access to the arts was celebrated and acknowledged with gratitude. Through its continued commitment, the EU has played a pivotal role in developing a unique platform for creative expression and dialogue, empowering the youth of Eswatini to explore their artistic potential and contribute positively to society.

Under the theme “Art Effect: The Transformative Power of Artistic Expression in the Creative Economy,” this year’s festival aims to foster creativity, stimulate positive social change, and encourage entrepreneurial pursuits in the arts. Guided by the Arts Development pillar of MTN Bushfire’s call to action for positive social and environmental change, #BRINGYOURFIRE, the festival seeks to harness the transformative power of art to drive meaningful impact and inspire the next generation of creative innovators.

The EU Bushfire Schools Festival stands as a testament to the festival’s commitment to nurturing artistic talent, fostering cultural dialogue, and empowering young individuals to utilize their creativity for personal growth and community development. Through a dynamic arts education program, the festival provides participants with a platform to explore their creativity, develop their skills, and make a positive difference in their communities.

As preparations for the festival intensify, organizers eagerly anticipate welcoming youth Fire Starters on 30th May 2024 for yet another life-changing, empowering, and dynamic arts education program. With the support of the EU and other partners, the Bushfire Schools Festival continues to be a beacon of creativity, inspiration, and social transformation in Eswatini.
