South African Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Blade Nzimande has called on all progressive forces to put pressure on the Eswatini government to democratize.
Nzimande who is also the Secretary General of the South African Communist Party added that the situation in the country only underlines that democracy is long over due.
His statement come at a time when the country is at the height of yet another constitutional and democratic reform protests.
This had led to the death of over 80 people in June and July according to pro-democracy forces while the government only confirmed only 36.
Nzimande said his political party the SACP will continue to support the process of democratization of Eswatini.
“We are calling for the democratization of Swaziland and for all the progressive in the region including SADC to put pressure on the government to actually democratize. The time now for mornachical government’s is over. So, as the SASP, we continue to support the process of democratization of Swaziland and if we can could try and assist that process peacefully, the better for the people of Swaziland and the reagion,” said Minister Nzimande.
