Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini Eases COVID 19 Restrictions

Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini has announced new eased COVID-19 restrictions under Adjusted Level 1 effective midnight, 28 October 2021. Among the eased restrictions is the reopening of all sporting activities in the country.

Prime Minister: “All sporting events can now resume operating under strict observance of relevant sector COVID-19 Protocols and the General COVID-19 preventative measures of physical distancing, sanitising and proper wearing of masks.”

PM on Sport: “Up to a maximum of 2000 vaccinated spectators will be allowed at Somhlolo National Stadium and Mavuso Sports Centre. Other open grounds will be allowed up to 500 vaccinated spectators, also under strict COVID-19 protocols.”

PM On Community Meetings: “Community meetings will now be allowed to operate normally under strict adherence to COVID-19 regulations.”

PM On Church Services: “Church services can now proceed more than once a week for a period not exceeding three hours at any given time and with strict adherence to the curfew and all COVID-19 prevention protocols.”

PM on Public Transport: “Public transport to operate at full capacity as per their vehicle operating licences.”

PM on Alcohol Sale: “Sale and distribution of alcohol will now be allowed as follows; Monday and Friday from 9am to 7pm; Saturday from 9am to 2pm. However, alcohol sale remains strictly for home consumption except where served with meals at restaurants.”

PM on Food & Alcohol: “The serving of food and alcoholic beverages remains prohibited in all gatherings, including funerals, sporting and entertainment events.”

PM on Prohibited Activities: “Kufukama, night vigils and night clubs remain prohibited.”

PM on Vaccination: “Government is encouraged to note a significant decline in COVID-19 infections and mortalities in recent weeks. We do continue to urge the Nation to continue vaccinating so that we may begin to enjoy life as we used to know it.”

PM in Conclusion: “The easing of these measures is not an invitation for emaSwati to relax. COVID-19 is still an enemy lurking in our midst and ready to strike with venom. We are reminded to be vigilant at all times and to refrain from any behaviour that will expose us and our loved ones to the dreaded virus.”
