Manzini, Eswatini – In line with the Sibaya mandate, the Planning and Budget Committee (PBC), established by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, and Public Service, has begun a nationwide sensitization process to ensure transparency and understanding of the national budget. The initiative aims to educate Chiefs and Inkhundla Councils about the budget formulation process and relevant government legislation, empowering them to effectively share this knowledge with their communities.

The PBC’s regional engagements have already commenced in the Manzini region, with plans to extend these sessions across all four regions of Eswatini. The ultimate goal is to enhance public awareness and participation in the national budget process, ensuring that every Liswati understands how government resources are allocated and managed.

Speaking on the initiative, a PBC representative emphasized the importance of local leaders being well-informed on financial matters to foster greater accountability and dialogue at the community level. “This process is not just about numbers; it’s about empowering our leaders to make informed decisions and ensure that all Emaswati are actively engaged in the budget process,” the representative said.

These engagements mark a significant step towards creating a more transparent and inclusive budgeting process, with the PBC committed to ongoing dialogue with local authorities.
