MBABANE – The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) is pleased to announce the return of the highly anticipated Sports Administration Course. This decision comes in response to an overwhelming demand from member bodies for its continuation. The announcement was made by EOCGA Chief Executive Officer Maxwell Jele at the Mountain View Hotel in Mbabane on the 15th of May, 2024.
Following the outcry of our affiliates, an impressive 61 participants have registered for the second edition of the course. This marks a significant 42.6% increase from the 35 participants who completed the course in October 2023. From last year’s group, 9 participants passed with distinctions, 22 with passes, and only 4 did not pass.
The course, which will span two weeks, will hold sessions exclusively on weekends to accommodate the schedules of all participants. The CEO also revealed that the board has deemed it essential to host another session, which will be succeeded by a Level 2 course later in the year. This subsequent course will cater to a larger pool of participants, culminating in a graduation ceremony for both groups.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative, the course will include the participation of four headteachers from each region, alongside a special international guest, Morake Releaka from Lesotho. This collaboration has been facilitated by EOCGA’s Memorandum of Understanding with the landlocked kingdom.
Victor Mavikane Dlamini, Chairman of the National Olympic Academy, emphasized the necessity of 100 percent attendance for this course, urging participants to approach it with the seriousness it deserves.
“The success of our sports administration depends on the dedication and commitment of those involved in its governance. This course is a pivotal step towards achieving excellence in sports management in Eswatini,” Dlamini remarked.
The return of the Sports Administration Course underscores EOCGA’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of sports administrators and fostering the development of sports in the kingdom.
