Orange Botswana Elevates Technological Landscape with State-of-the-Art Data Centre Launch

Orange Botswana has unveiled its state-of-the-art Tier III Certified Data Centre, located at the Botswana Digital Innovation Hub and Technology Park. This significant investment underscores Orange Botswana’s commitment to leading innovation and technology in the country, aiming to enhance network connectivity on a national and international scale while improving the overall network experience for customers globally.

During the launch, Thulagano Segokgo, Minister of Communications, Knowledge, and Technology, emphasized the government’s focus on digital technology’s availability and access. He praised Orange Botswana’s Data Centre as a symbol of the private sector’s crucial role in advancing Botswana’s investment in its people and fostering a knowledge-based economy.

Orange Botswana CEO, Neine Maiga, highlighted the company’s substantial investment exceeding P70 million in building the data centre infrastructure. She emphasized the centre’s significance in advancing Botswana’s technological landscape and economic growth within the ICT sector.

The Orange Data Centre, designed with modernity in mind, features advanced security measures, technological systems, and an environmentally conscious design. It proudly holds the Uptime Tier Certification (Tier 3), a globally recognized classification system attesting to the reliability and availability of data centres.

Maiga expressed confidence in the centre’s contribution to uninterrupted services and outlined plans for offering advanced services like cloud solutions, real-time communication, and 5G connectivity. The data centre’s concurrent maintainability capability ensures maintenance without service interruption, aiming to increase customer satisfaction.

Orange Botswana aspires to position the nation at the forefront of technological advancements, contributing to Botswana’s 4th Industrial Revolution economic aspirations. The company aims to empower small and large businesses through the data centre, offering services such as hosting, redundancy, resilience, and affordable cloud services for efficient and secure data management.
